MUA Pro or MUA Foe?

Let’s talk about the Pro MUA as well as one of my favorite informative content creators Robert Welsh, When I think of Mr. Welsh I feel he’s a breath of fresh air to the beauty community. Maybe it’s his very direct message to the makeup mob or the hilarious reaction videos. Either way you cannot deny he knows his craft, but what this beauty guru would like to know is why the spicy opinion on Fenty Beauty? I’m not well versed in the full knowledge of releasing a beauty brand but I think it’s grasping when we say Fenty Beauty by Rihanna is “flopping” or asking whether fans and consumers are “over it” or whatever the kids are calling it these days. Being a Makeup artist, stylist or guru of any form doesn’t make you a brand creator.

With that being said I think also as someone who is “white” for a lack of a better term, should have less of an opinion on a brand that is black owned, open to all skin tones, and has a range of products fitting not just a huge array of skin shades including their own but also supplements skin tones that aren’t represented in certain brands… Tarte what’s good? Thanks to the conversation that he used from the Beautiful and Bothered podcast the energy from the two hosts sounds like two angry birds conversing on the dealings of a businesswoman, in other words kindly shut the fuck up. If you want new music from Rihanna just say that, but to go as far as insulting it a brands releases are “lack luster” because she didn’t Pon de Replay on her lipgloss in every makeup drop is not only a immature statement but it reeks in white supremacist vibes… Sir your Caucasian outrage can exit stage left, and honestly to say criticize a brand by a black woman who is not only looking out for ALL people of color but also ALL gender identities is extremely cringe and full of white privilege. Be aware, gentle reader, that individuals that use the term beautiful and bothered in the same sentence, usually are only one of the two, and I think we know which one it is, regardless, we’re not here to shame or attack anyone but I do think that Robert Welsh should mind who’s side he is on. Beauty is fluid as well as it’s forever changing and albeit we beauty gurus, and beauty professionals may have our own personal opinions on her brand, we have never released beauty brands ourselves or at least some of us haven’t.

Keep in mind gentle readers that she is from the Barbados, she is a woman of color, and that her brand is reaching out to predominantly people of color. I think it is safe to say that Rihanna is covering all of her bases in terms of products, when I say that I mean the diffusing highlighters, the skin care line that she released, as well as some of the blushes, and many more genius creations that she has thought of. She has taken the time to release products that cover all levels of beauty, natural, every day glam, and high glamour. In response to Mr. Welsh’s review, criticism, or remarks choose which ever makes you feel better, I think that it is a miscalculation on his part, when we say a brand is “flopping” or use someone else’s words to claim a brand is flopping especially one owned by a woman of color.

There has been speculation amongst a lot of individuals in the beauty community that Fenty beauty by Rihanna has had “lackluster launches” or releases. Personally, I don’t feel that any of the launches are lackluster, I believe that when a brand such as Fenty gains the momentum that it has it doesn’t need to stimulate the masses, Fenty Beauty has now became an essential part of a huge percentage of MUAs beauty arsenal. We’ve seen multiple brands, especially brands owned by celebrities or music artists, keep our attention for a short time and eventually dissipate into thin air. Not to say any names, but there are specific beauty brands out there that aren’t even a fraction of the net worth of Fenty Beauty with that being said, I believe the Fenty Beauty will withstand the test of time with or without Rihanna what do you think my beauties? Is Rihanna’s brand on an invisible decline?
